Chris Atchison - President

Chris is the President of the BC Construction Association (BCCA), the largest and most inclusive construction organization in the province. BCCA represents over 1500 non-union and union contractors active in all sectors of the industry, but primarily focused on Industrial Commercial and Institutional construction. BCCA members include general contractors, trade contractors and suppliers, large and small, from all regions of BC.

Chris has an extensive background working in the association space with a passion to innovate and drive member value. In addition, Chris has developed an expertise for working collaboratively to ensure optimal results for employers, members, communities, and funders. Chris offers a wealth of experience, including 9 years as Chief Operating Officer at ASPECT and more than 15 years focussing on workforce development strategies, training and initiatives throughout BC. In addition to his work credentials, Chris holds an International Relations Degree from UBC.

Currently, Chris oversees many of the successful programs and strategic initiatives at BCCA, such as; Bid Central, Construction Month, the Skilled Trades Employment Program (STEP), Integrating Newcomers (IN) and the Builders Code.

Chris sits at several industry boards, forums and councils, including:

  • Deputy Minister Industry Infrastructure Forum (DMIIF)
  • Stakeholder Advisory Working Group (SAWG)
  • Council of Construction Associations (COCA)
  • BCCA Employee Benefit Trust (EBT)
  • Business Council of BC (BCBC)
  • Canadian Construction Association (CCA)

Chris is committed to moving the industry forward with maintaining essential relationships, modernizing policies and embracing new technologies. As President of the BC Construction Association, Chris will continue to incorporate initiatives that introduce progressive and necessary change to industry while delivering value to all construction stakeholders.

Lisa Stevens - Chief Strategy Officer

A career marketer and community engagement strategist, Lisa has held senior leadership roles in both public and private sectors. As a Senior Vice President of Marketing at Sony Music in New York City, Lisa developed global campaigns for some of the world’s most renowned recording artists. Returning to Victoria to lead marketing and business development at the global e-commerce marketplace AbeBooks, Lisa was part of the management team that successfully negotiated an acquisition by the online retail giant Amazon. To develop her BC business networks, Lisa next became Executive Director of ActNow BC at the time of the 2010 Olympic Games, leveraging that success into a rewarding post-Games run as a management consultant with an emphasis on community engagement and brand strategy.

In her spare time, Lisa boot-strapped a tech start-up into a profitable business, which was acquired in July 2018.

Warren Perks - VP Industry Standard Practices

Warren Perks leads the BCCA and integrated groups as VP Industry Standard Practices, promoting the adoption of standard practices for the BC construction sector on numerous matters. Starting out as a draftsperson and working extensively as a construction project manager in Alberta and British Columbia, Warren brings hands-on experience and understanding on numerous construction sector issues.

Warren is a significant player in the development and implementation of online bidding, and continues to influence the evolution of building regulation, standard documents and construction practices. Through the Public Construction Council, numerous Standard Practices Committees and his ongoing administration of the BCCA’s BidCentral online tendering services for public construction projects, he is focused on establishing strong processes which reflect industry needs and practices while maximizing the return on investment.

Jackie Knutson - Director of Finance

Jackie Knutson is the BCCA’s financial leader with big-picture thinking in mind. A Certified General Accountant and skilled puzzle solver in charge of budgeting, reporting and forecasting, Jackie fits the pieces of the big picture together. Jackie brings together precision, business sense, and a deep understanding of the complexities of Association management and government funding, carried by her passion for action on industry issues and the mandate of the Skilled Trades Employment Program.

Jackie believes it is important to experience as many elements related to your chosen career as you can, then focus and work hard towards your goals.
